I wrote this song two years ago - but this moment is all too fitting. It’s Pride month 2020, and the revolution is here. It is of the utmost importance that Pride this year is in service of Black lives. Black, trans and queer lives not only matter - but deserve so much more than our violent history has provided. With this song, I honor the Black trailblazers who gave me the ability to have Pride in all the intersections of my identity. As a brown, queer, non-binary Latinx, with lighter skin - I am here to leverage my privilege and protect, support, amplify and celebrate my black family and community.
